Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to support children with sensory impairments in a primary school located in Hammersmith & Fulham, London. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs and a passion for helping them succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide individualized support for students with sensory impairments, adapting teaching methods to meet their unique needs.
  2. Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and the SENCO.
  3. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
  4. Work closely with external specialists to integrate recommended strategies into the classroom.
  5. Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teachers and parents regarding achievements and areas for improvement.
  6. Participate in training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to sensory impairments and SEN.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with children with sensory impairments or special educational needs is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships with students and families.
  • A patient and empathetic approach with a genuine desire to help children succeed.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
  • A DBS check is required.
