Fabrication Inspector Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fabrication Inspector to join our team at a well-established Manufacturing/Engineering company in Wigan. As a Fabrication Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of fabricated steel products by reviewing design documents, inspecting materials, and overseeing production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting materials for composition and dimensional accuracy
  • Checking the dimensions of daily structural production work to ensure full adherence to standards and project specifications
  • Interpreting engineering and detail fabrication drawings, specifications, and standards
  • Confirming any required fabrication errors have been adjusted and sign off before welding commences
  • Performing relevant checks to confirm tolerances in line with the contract specifications
  • Assisting with the production, completion, and collation of relevant verification documentation

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role in the structural steel sector
  • Solid experience reading and interpreting structural drawings
  • Strong knowledge of quality control processes and procedures
  • Experience in reviewing design documents and ensuring specification compliance
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

What You'll Get:

  • Basic Salary: £38,480 per annum
  • Opportunity of overtime (Time/half in the week and Saturdays £27.75 P/H & Double/time Sundays £37.00 P/H)
  • Shift pattern 6.00 PM Monday to Friday
