About Us

The Energy Systems Catapult is a leading centre of excellence that bridges the gap between industry, government, academia, and research. We take a whole-systems view of the energy sector, helping us to identify and address innovation priorities and market barriers, in order to decarbonise the energy system at the lowest cost.

Our Mission

We seek to open up routes to market for innovators, as well as supporting them to understand how their products, services, and value propositions fit into the transforming energy system.

Our Approach

We take a whole systems approach to help build consensus on a shared sense of direction on the transition, both to inform innovation priorities and to enable integration that enhances efficiency in the energy system. We have a wide range of technical, commercial, regulatory, and policy specialists with expertise across the whole energy system to help innovators overcome the barriers blocking routes to market.

Our Flexible Workplace

We are embracing a new way to utilise our office in Birmingham City Centre, developing a flexible approach to the workplace that ensures we keep some of the benefits of home working while enabling the Catapult to operate efficiently. This hybrid way of working may result in the majority of us working from home for a good chunk of the time, merging the best bits of both office and home working.
