Software Systems Architect Role Overview
The role combines technical support with system and software engineering, providing a mix of hands-on development and strategic planning. As a key contributor to the team, you will be responsible for assisting junior engineers with technical challenges, offering guidance and solutions.
Technical Support & Leadership
Technical support involves assisting junior engineers with their technical challenges, offering guidance and solutions. Leadership is about providing direction and oversight to ensure project goals are met.
System Engineering
System engineering involves choosing appropriate microcontrollers and memory devices. This requires facilitating the use of pre-developed software solutions to optimize development efforts, providing effort estimates to support efforts in acquiring new customers, and developing high-quality, precise software requirements.
Software System Architecture
Software system architecture involves creating software concepts that span across different microcontroller platforms. This requires developing proofs of concept to validate software system designs.
Software Engineering
Software engineering involves capturing and analyzing software requirements, contributing to creating detailed product design specifications, planning and implementing software tests, including Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) testing, and adhering to established software processes and standards.
Collaboration & Communication
Collaboration involves working with stakeholders and contributing to team communication. This requires confidence in interacting with stakeholders and supporting debugging efforts in the R&D laboratory. You will also work with teams across different geographical locations.
Required Qualifications
Required qualifications include experience in software or electronics engineering, with a background in embedded systems, a relevant degree in software or electronics engineering, and experience in bare metal development with Embedded C, familiarity with Simulink or other Model-Based Development tools, understanding of control methodologies, experience in requirements engineering, software architecture design, and test planning, and knowledge of DSP microcontrollers or real-time control systems.
