About the Role

This is a key position working as part of our award-winning Conservation Education and Engagement team, delivering our on-site, outreach, and virtual program of workshops for schools, colleges, and universities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside our Conservation Education Officers to deliver Chester Zoo's program of activities for schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Deliver workshops in-zoo, virtually, and as outreach.
  • Contribute to research to maximize conservation impact, achieve learning goals, and improve visitor/audience experience.
  • Manage resources and support administrative tasks.
  • Support and work with volunteers.
Package
  • Temporary fixed-term contract on a term-time only basis.
  • Working hours 35 hours per week (term time only), 9am-5pm with a 60-minute (unpaid) lunch break.
  • Salary £21,752.97 per annum based on 35 hours per week (pro-rata'd to term-time only hours for the period of employment).
  • 33 days annual leave plus the option to buy or sell up to 5 days.

Requirements
  • A good knowledge and ongoing interest in zoo-based conservation and the natural world.
  • Outstanding communication skills, particularly verbal and written communication.
  • Experience of delivering engaging workshops to various audiences, including school-aged children.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills.
  • Experience of working with volunteers.
  • A full driving license valid in the UK is essential.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience of delivering engaging workshops to groups with additional learning needs.
  • A sound and up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum and safeguarding legislation and policies.
