Inventory Control Specialist

Job Title: Inventory Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Inventory Specialist to join our team in Birmingham. As an Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and prioritizing various projects to achieve significant cost savings in annual Stores expenditures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Improvement: Compare Stores Department internal processes with industry best practices and implement process improvements for all Stores-related activities.
- Cost-Saving Initiatives: Analyze stores data to propose cost-saving projects, such as implementing new inventory management systems to reduce waste and cost, and managing minimum and maximum reports to control expenditure.
- Inventory Control: Streamline computerized systems to improve inventory control and prevent stock shortages, and provide regular project updates to the Management Team and Procurement Manager.
- Negotiation and Supplier Management: Negotiate with suppliers using various techniques, including individual meetings, e-auctions, and supplier summits, and manage and benchmark existing suppliers.
- Administrative Duties: Perform general administrative duties associated with the role, including standardizing item descriptions, and assisting different teams in resolving finance and requisition queries.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field, and ideally, CIPS or CSWM qualifications.
- Experience: Experience in purchasing within a manufacturing background, and experience in managing inventory levels.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Power BI, and Pivot Tables, and ability to read drawings.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational and planning skills, proven decision-making and project management experience, and team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
