Chief Accounting Officer

We are seeking an experienced Chief Accounting Officer to join our team at Howett Thorpe, a leading educational establishment. This is a permanent term-time position (plus 2 weeks) that requires the successful candidate to have previous experience in managing day-to-day finance functions in a busy environment.

The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified or working towards a professional accountancy qualification. They will be responsible for administering the school's banking, credit cards, and parent payment systems, ensuring monthly reconciliations and effective cash flow management.

• Administer the school's banking, credit cards, and parent payment systems, ensuring monthly reconciliations and effective cash flow management
• Manage the Xero accounting system, ensuring it meets the school's evolving needs and maintaining accurate financial records, including month-end and year-end reconciliations

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• AAT qualified (or studying towards accounting qualification)
• Experience of management and financial accounting
• Knowledge of accounting standards
• Strong IT skills, particularly Excel skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Organised with excellent time management skills
