Job Title: Consultant Gastroenterologist/Nutrition

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist/Nutrition to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in Intestinal Failure and a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.

About the Role

The department of gastroenterology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) is a leading centre for the treatment of intestinal failure and complex enteral nutrition. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced team of consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals to provide a comprehensive service to patients with intestinal failure and other gastroenterological conditions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care to patients with intestinal failure and other gastroenterological conditions.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in teaching and training of junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of research projects and publications.
Requirements
  • Eligible for inclusion, or be within 6 months of a CCT, on the GMC specialist register in gastroenterology & general medicine or equivalent.
  • Strong interest in Intestinal Failure and a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
