Job Title: Senior Project Manager

NATS is the UK's leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. Our purpose is to advance aviation and keep the skies safe.

Job Purpose:

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the delivery of projects within a Programme/Portfolio of contracts as assigned by the Programme Manager. The role will involve developing fully costed, resourced, and deliverable plans throughout the full project lifecycle from bid through to delivery and project closure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the delivery of multiple complex and major projects
  • Manage internal resources, partners, suppliers, and/or sub-contractors
  • Represent NATS to customers and internal/external project stakeholders, ensuring solutions are delivered to all performance targets
  • Lead project mobilisation, project planning, and scheduling, tracking of milestones, tracking and management of project requirements, tracking and management of the project critical path, risk (threats and opportunities), issue management, project finances, and change management
  • Develop and manage a competitive plan for higher value/higher risk or strategically important bids
  • Identify appropriate business intelligence and communicate to relevant NATS Commercial Teams (e.g. Business Development, Account Managers)
  • Develop, maintain, and apply quality management processes for project activities, including deliverables, issues, and decisions, and outputs considering lessons learned
  • Identify areas of improvement by reviewing and providing continuous feedback
  • Provide recommendations to improve delivery of bids, projects, and product improvement and become a specialist in one or more areas for project management expertise
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Relevant qualification at degree level or equivalent, with evidence of continuing professional development
  • Qualified APM-PPQ in project management with preferably MAPM
  • Proven background in project managing complex or major projects
  • Understanding of complex contracts, compliance, and managing variances
  • Excellent communicator with good analytical and conceptual reasoning
  • Deep knowledge of NATS Services Approvals and Project Lifecycle processes (desirable)
  • Good commercial awareness, demonstrating clear leadership, strong negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrable resilience and highly developed competence in situational awareness and leadership
  • Good understanding of developing trends in the ATM market and related technologies
  • Able to work with customers directly and influence requirements and decision making to align with NATS objectives and solutions
