About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Head of Commercial for Digital and Technology, who will play a crucial role in shaping our commercial strategy. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll be responsible for leading our Credit Underwriting function, ensuring procedures align with our risk appetite and controls. You'll work closely with our CEO, managing and developing the Credit Underwriting team, facilitating training and development, and attending the Executive Credit Committee.

Responsibilities
Accountability for the Credit Underwriting function
Manage and develop the Credit Underwriting team, providing guidance on training and development
Attend the Executive Credit Committee
Evaluate and ensure compliance with company credit risk appetite
Review and approve Credit Underwriting procedures to ensure alignment with business risk controls
Contribute to process and policy improvements balancing risk and customer service
Making decisions aligned with credit policy for applications within delegated lending authority
Analyse and input financial data into credit risk assessments
Work collaboratively with the team to meet deadlines and SLAs
Support the wider team where necessary, assisting with document drafting and registration
Verify borrowers' product eligibility
Analyse and report Credit function management information
Participate in peer review assurance testing on a monthly basis
Provide ad hoc data analysis as required

Requirements
A proven track record of people management and leadership experience
A drive to deliver high-quality output in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working with SMEs in a financial services context
Ability to analyse and interpret financial statements
Direct experience underwriting SME debt proposals under own delegated lending authority
Proven ability to provide input into credit policy development and process improvement
Experience using credit risk models for decision-making purposes

Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of £85,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide opportunities for further development, including participation in in-house credit analytics and model development, contributing to credit policy and lending parameters, and supporting the CEO with strategic projects. We also sponsor team members through Chartered Banker Institute qualifications.
