Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Specialist

This role involves working in a responsive, customer-oriented environment, offering plenty of variety. You will be involved in the validation and testing of electronic systems and products within Tier 1 automotive and aerospace businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Setting up and conducting all types of EMC tests.
  2. Making sure that test specifications are followed correctly.
  3. Devising and carrying out non-standard tests to meet special requirements.
  4. Recording product condition or behaviour during and after test.
  5. Creating concise and clear test records.
  6. Monitoring test equipment and reporting anomalies or faults.
  7. Producing clear and professional reports as required.
  8. Working closely with clients to understand and resolve EMC test failures through investigative work.
  9. Checking and calibrating equipment and test chambers.
Requirements:

Essential:

  1. Educated to HND or engineering degree standard. A good understanding of Physics is important.
  2. A thorough understanding of RF measurement principles.
  3. EMC/RF experience (in the context of hands-on testing and approvals/standards).
  4. Minimum 5 years practical test experience in a controlled test environment working to Automotive/Aerospace test standards.
  5. Familiarity with test, monitoring and control instruments.
  6. Knowledge and experience of working to a recognised quality system.
  7. Conscientious in attention to detail, accuracy and record keeping.

Desirable:

  1. Computer literate - working knowledge of standard PC applications.
  2. Experience of EMC aerospace testing to DO-160 is highly desirable as is experience of setting up, conducting and analysing EMC aerospace lightning tests.
  3. Ability to communicate clearly and to deal confidently with customers.
  4. Willingness to work additional hours when required including a shift working pattern.
  5. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to varying work requirements.
  6. Knowledge/experience of calibration techniques.
