This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Plymouth as a Senior Technician, providing technical support and expertise for projects within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and expertise for projects within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences.
  • Support and assist staff and students in the application of data science techniques.
  • Liaise with academic and technical staff to understand existing methods of data collection and suggest innovative data science solutions.
Requirements
  • Significant work experience within a data analysis environment.
  • Ability to support and assist staff and students in the application of data science techniques.
  • Familiarity with at least two of the following: Python, Javascript, R, MatLab, and/or Google Earth engine.
Desirable Criteria
  • Ability to take a proactive role in liaising with academic and technical staff to understand existing methods of data collection and suggest innovative data science solutions.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: large language model prompt engineering, development of digital simulations incorporating real-time sensor data, and big data analysis.
  • Experience in the use of unmanned aerial vehicle for photogrammetric data capture, Internet of things monitoring systems, and/or geospatial analysis.
