Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Department for Culture, Media and Sport's International Team, a dynamic and exciting team that coordinates the department's approach to engagement and policymaking overseas.

The role involves coordinating the programme of Ministerial and Senior Officials visits to other countries, setting out the overall programme, setting guidance for visits process and practice, and delivering individual visits.

This role would be ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ambition to build a career in international policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivery of cross-cutting Ministerial and Senior Official international visits, working closely with colleagues based in embassies and consulates to deliver impactful visits in line with DCMS's wider international ambitions;
  • Maintaining clear communications with colleagues across DCMS (including Senior Officials) on the progress of specific visit plans;
  • Providing some logistical support for visits plans as needed;
  • Coordinating forward look plans for DCMS's programme of visits for the Secretary of State and Junior Ministers;
  • Responsibility for developing and maintaining DCMS's overall visits policy and process guidance;
  • Region responsibility for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands;
  • Providing support for other International Hub work as needed.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate would have the following key skills and experience:

  • Strong organisational aptitude and/or project management skills;
  • Ability to understand the bigger picture in which DCMS operates, and apply this to your work;
  • Good communication skills, and the ability to maintain a wide network of contacts both junior and senior;
  • Attention to detail, and excellent drafting skills;
  • A positive attitude and interest in the subject matter of the role;
  • Being a self-starter who is keen to develop and grow into the role.
