Quality Controller Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Controller to join our team at A.C. Goatham And Son Limited. As a Quality Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our fresh produce meets our internal and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct quality control checks on incoming raw materials, outgoing finished products, and online production checks.
  • Inspect fresh produce on arrival, on production lines, and on despatch to ensure correct packing and positive release.
  • Carry out quality-related inspection checks, such as pressure and brix testing, using appropriate equipment and recording test results.
  • Utilize company IT software to create stock reports and manage workload according to customer order sheets.
  • Check produce labels for accuracy and as per specification.
  • Selection and monitoring of shelf-life samples and carrying out associated testing.
  • Complete necessary documentation in compliance with requirements.
  • Maintain excellent levels of hygiene standards.
  • Repetitive manual handling of products (up to 18kg).
  • Monitor the productivity of our Production Operatives, providing training, support, and feedback to drive improved performance.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a fresh produce environment with responsibility for monitoring product quality.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Understanding of and adherence to health and safety protocols and food hygiene standards.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and spoken instructions.
  • Respect for others and values diversity; happy to listen and work as part of a team.
  • Can-do attitude with a flexible and dynamic approach.
  • Ability to use own initiative and thrive under pressure.
  • Basic understanding of stock control systems.
