About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Deputy Payroll Manager to join our existing team of three staff, currently undergoing a period of transition following the implementation of a new payroll system.

Key Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Supervise the payroll team and lead on delivering the normal monthly payroll cycle;">
  • Provide the Head of Payroll with a full audit trail of checks, reports, and summary sheet for audit, regulatory compliance, and quality control;">
  • Ensure payroll deadlines are met accurately and on time, with a strong attention to detail;">
  • Deputise for the Head of Payroll as directed, including representing the University externally, presenting briefings, and providing training to colleagues in payroll and Human Resources on payroll and pensions administration and changes;">
  • Line manage the payroll officers, with responsibility for performance, development, and work allocation to ensure the provision of an effective payroll and pension service;">
  • Promote and maintain good working relations within the team and other areas within the Department, other Professions Service Departments, and Academic Departments.">

Requirements

To be successful, you will have significant experience in an operational payroll role within a complex organisation and experience working with Oracle or other large payroll systems. You should have professional knowledge or a commitment to develop professional knowledge in a relevant area of payroll administration such as:

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus benefits. The estimated annual salary for this position is around $66,900, based on a 36-hour workweek and a location allowance.
