Role Overview
Legal & General, a leading financial services group, seeks a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join their Retail Division on a 12-month fixed term contract. As an Expense Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of Group Protection financial targets by providing proactive financial and management accounting services.

About the Role
This hybrid working opportunity allows you to split your working week between home and either Hove or London offices. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Producing monthly and quarterly reports for senior management meetings to inform decision-making and drive business financial targets.
  • Managing monthly reconciliation and analysis of insurance data, highlighting trends and risks against full year forecast and budget.
  • Ensuring robust processes are in place to track and report benefits, providing support for the Group Protection Investment Portfolio when required.
  • Monitoring and reporting monthly spend related to insurance, processing relevant accruals and ensuring spend is in line with business case and overall insurance targets.
  • Supporting the quarterly forecast by providing accurate and timely management information.
  • Maintaining and monitoring accounting standards, policies, and financial controls across the team to ensure compliance with Group Standards, statutory requirements, and control framework.

Key Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • A part-qualified accountant status
  • Good knowledge of the financial services industry and performance metrics used within the industry
  • Familiarity with UK regulatory frameworks, particularly in the life insurance sector
  • Understanding of L&G's key financial and operational targets, including profit (VA), market share, and APE sales targets
  • Knowledge of L&G's core life, pensions, and UT/ISA products, including awareness of product features, characteristics, purpose, and profit/expense dynamics
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheet software, databases, and analysis tools
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with individuals at all levels and influence others in a complex matrix structure
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
