Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a key member of our Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to critically ill children across the hospital.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills to support the care of critically ill children.
  • Act as a professional role model, supporting, educating, and developing new and existing nurses and junior medical staff in paediatric acute and high dependency care.
  • Lead and manage the assessment of care, working autonomously across all areas of the hospital.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical management pathways for patients, ensuring a high standard of holistic, evidence-based care is achieved and maintained.
Requirements
  • RSCN or Registered Nurse (Child) qualification.
  • Post-registration qualification in acute paediatrics, high dependency, or critical care.
  • Current PILS/PILS Certification.
  • Physical Assessment and Clinical Reasoning - Child (PACR-Child) Module or equivalent.
  • Pathophysiology and diagnostic reasoning for advanced practice (PADRAP) - Module or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Teaching qualification or evidence of clinical teaching experience.
