Job Title: Graduate SEM Operator

Join our team as a Graduate SEM Operator and take on a challenging role in our core flooding team. As a key member of our laboratory, you will be responsible for specimen preparation, routine SEM/EDX analysis, and data interpretation.

About the Role:
  • Conduct SEM/EDX analysis of rock samples to determine modes of formation damage
  • Support analysis of paper/metal filters to examine scale growth and corrosion
  • Maintain and upkeep SEM instruments
  • Pre- and post-treatment analysis of test specimens and interpretation of results
  • Plot and interpret data, and report findings
  • Provide customer liaison, including technical updates, reporting, and presentation of results
  • Select representative core samples for testing, including hand specimen analysis, SEM, EDX, and porosity and permeability measurements
  • Assist with formation damage testing activities in the laboratory
  • Design and implement new test protocols for routine and R+D activities
Working Patterns and Benefits:

We offer a range of working patterns, including a compressed week and 9-day fortnight. You will also have opportunities for travel and secondments to international laboratories.

Requirements:
  • Degree in geology, chemistry, petroleum geology, geochemistry, or a related discipline
  • Good self-management and interpersonal skills
Desirable Skills:
  • Direct experience with SEM/EDX analysis
  • Practical experience in an industrial setting
  • Practical geological/mineralogical experience
  • Direct experience of lab-based core analysis, e.g., permeability, porosity, mineralogy, or testing relating to fluid flow in porous media, RCA, or SCAL
  • Project management skills
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001
