Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day management and maintenance of the school's buildings, grounds, and facilities.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of the facilities team, including caretakers, maintenance staff, and cleaners.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular checks, risk assessments, and emergency drills.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the security of the school premises, including managing alarm systems, key control, and out-of-hours access.
  • Manage the school's waste disposal and recycling processes, and ensure the grounds are kept clean and presentable.
  • Coordinate the setup and breakdown of facilities for school events, meetings, and functions.
  • Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring all expenditures are accounted for and within budget.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities for cost and energy savings.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar facilities management role, ideally within an educational or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and compliance standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, pupils, contractors, and visitors.
  • IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and facilities management software.
  • A commitment to maintaining the school's values and ethos.
