Position Title: Mine Planning Engineer
Location: St Austell – Cornwall
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract for 12 months
Compensation: £42,000
Are you a qualified Mining Engineer or Geologist with a solid grasp of fundamental mine planning concepts and techniques?
As a Mine Planning Engineer at Imerys, you will play a crucial role in determining reserves to access essential raw materials for business operations. Your responsibilities will encompass mine optimization, analysis, design, and planning/scheduling across various mining sites in Cornwall.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop medium to long-term strategies to facilitate the extraction of mineral assets.
- Establish long-term schedules for waste management.
- Design pits and dumps to optimize operational resources while maintaining production and quality standards.
- Assist in the operational scheduling and budgeting processes.
- Provide support to mining and production managers in ongoing operations and projects.
- Train site engineers in short-term and mid-term mine planning methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with the PERC code for public reporting of reserves.

Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Proficient IT skills, with experience in major mine planning software such as GEOVIA (Surpac, Whittle, MineSched), Datamine (NPVS), or RPM Global (XPAC).
- Familiarity with GIS and surveying is advantageous.
- A degree in Science or Engineering, preferably in Mining Engineering or Mining Geology.
- Relevant experience in a mining environment is essential.
- Experience in production and mine planning/design within a mining context (Brownfield) is required.
- A commitment to pursuing registration as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer following appropriate training and experience.
- A valid driving license is necessary.
