Role Overview

AECOM is seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead our Environment & Sustainability business in delivering a portfolio of renewables and net zero projects. As part of our national team, you will be based in one of our offices across the UK and have the flexibility to work remotely.

The ideal candidate will have experience of directing and managing multidisciplinary environmental inputs to infrastructure development projects, with a strong understanding of the EIA processes, environmental assessment methods, and relevant consenting regimes.

You will be responsible for leading EIAs for renewables and solar projects, overseeing several EIA teams, and collaborating with integrated design teams to identify environmental constraints and develop solutions. Additionally, you will play a key role in helping to secure new commissions and engage with clients and stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with excellent leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills, as well as a degree in a relevant environmental discipline (preferably a Masters degree) and an appropriate professional membership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead: multidisciplinary environmental inputs across a wide range of projects, supporting projects to gain development consent
  • Direct: the preparation of EIA screening and scoping reports, environmental assessments/ Environmental Statements (and in the future Environmental Outcomes Reports) and supporting documents, including the technical review of specialist chapters.
  • Mentor: Supporting staff development and mentoring
  • Lead business opportunities and associated fee and technical proposal development
