Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Physicist to join our team at Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby. As a Criticality Safety Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the design, manufacture, transport, commissioning, maintenance, and disposal of submarine reactor cores.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver delegated major technical work packages to agreed time, quality, and cost.
  2. Conduct criticality safety analysis to underpin safe operation across the reactor core lifecycle.
  3. Undertake Research & Technology projects to ensure Rolls-Royce stays at the forefront of the industry.
  4. Monitor progress on task activities and report against the baseline plan.
  5. Identify and manage risks and opportunities within the scope of technical work packages.

Requirements

  1. Academic background with degree in relevant engineering or scientific subject (MPhys, MSc, PTNR, NTEC, and/or Chartered Physicist or Engineer).
  2. Knowledge of the fission process and neutron transport theory.
  3. Ability to plan, organise and deliver quality work packages to budget and schedule.
  4. UK nationality.
