Civil Engineer - Technical Process Manager

This is a unique opportunity to join the Defence's Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Business Unit in Plymouth.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Civil Engineer - Technical Process Manager to lead the delivery of heavy civil infrastructure designs, focusing on dry dock systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil infrastructure and technical process management.

Main Purpose of Role:
  • Road & Hard Standings
  • Surface and Foul Water Drainage
  • Ducts & Trenches
  • Security Infrastructure

This role involves collaborating with the External Works Principal Engineer and the leads of the four main sub-packages to manage project documentation and integrate technical processes. This includes managing safety cases, change control, and stakeholder interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Sub-Packages: Oversee technical documentation and systems engineering processes for all four sub-packages, ensuring safety, change control, and technical governance integration.
  • Document Management: Manage technical documentation and ensure compliance with project and safety requirements.
  • External Works Design Support: Assist in the detailed design phase for various external works elements, including facility boundaries, roadways, pavements, waste management, and submarine dock access.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with design teams, the main contractor, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth interface management and delivery of technical requirements.
Requirements:
  • Technical Expertise: Experience in civil infrastructure, particularly in external works design elements such as roadways, drainage, and security infrastructure.
  • Project Documentation: Knowledge of project management documentation, quality assurance, and design phases.
  • Stakeholder & Interface Management: Strong communication and coordination skills to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, coordinating across various roles and responsibilities.
  • Quality Management: Understanding of project QA processes, design governance, and compliance with regulations.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with CDE (Common Data Environment) is beneficial.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Ideally, Chartered or well-progressed towards Chartered status with the relevant professional body.

The estimated salary range for this position is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
