Job Description

As a Tax Assistant Manager at KPMG, you will play a key role in providing UK tax advisory and compliance services to our clients. Our Corporate Tax team is a fast-growing part of the KPMG tax practice, operating from our Gatwick office and serving the region with diligence and expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be the principal contact with clients on day-to-day tax matters and work with managers, senior managers, directors, or partners on larger clients.
  • Be involved in tax advisory and planning work on client portfolios and work with senior colleagues and specialists to deliver expertise to the local market.
  • Assist with business development and attend client events.
  • Review corporation tax computations and advise clients on computational treatment of contentious issues. Coordinate tax payments, loss relief, capital allowances, group relief, and other claims.
  • Respond to client requests for other KPMG services. Coordinate multiple teams internally to provide a single point of contact for clients in delivering a comprehensive cross-tax offering.
  • Delegate delivery of work to junior colleagues while maintaining control of quality and timetables.
  • Coach and develop more junior members of staff.
  • Maintain strong financial management of client accounts, ensuring fees are raised regularly and identifying situations where overruns can be billed.
  • Keep internal control records up to date and ensure compliance with quality control procedures.
Requirements
  • Qualified (ACA/ACCA or CTA or equivalent).
  • Sound knowledge of UK corporate taxation.
  • Sound knowledge of accountancy principles, particularly accounting for tax (including deferred taxation and accounts disclosures).
  • Strong time and task management skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Sustain a high level of drive, show enthusiasm, and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work.
  • Monitor and uphold high quality of service and products to clients (internal and external).
  • A practical approach to problems with client focus and commercial awareness.
  • Take personal responsibility and accountability for own work. Continuously learn from experiences. Seek out feedback and development opportunities.
  • Ability to build good relationships with clients.
  • Communicate with impact in a way that is open, honest, consistent, and clear.
  • Ability to work as part of a team. Give clear directions, positive and constructive feedback. Coach less experienced staff.
  • Work in a cooperative, respectful manner with colleagues, clients, and the wider community.
