Job Title: Residential Support Worker

Barnardo's Transition, Preparation and Moving-On Service is seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our team in Liverpool. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing environment for young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, and rejection.

About the Role:

You will engage with and support young people in all aspects of their lives, attending to their practical, physical, and emotional needs, while safeguarding each young person at all times. Your role will involve supporting the rest of the team around the young people, acting in the capacity of a corporate parent. You will also support young people to enhance their social opportunities by accessing hobbies & activities in the home and in the community.

Responsibilities:
  • Support young people in their daily lives, including meal preparation, personal care, and emotional support.
  • Engage with young people in activities such as karaoke, pamper, movie, and games nights.
  • Support young people to access meals out, cinema, theatre, activity clubs, and other community-based activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to provide a safe and supportive environment for young people.
  • Participate in cultural theme nights and other activities that promote cultural awareness and understanding.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience of working with young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, and rejection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work a rota basis, including sleep ins and waking nights.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies.
