We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering programme, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects within our national programme.

The estimated salary for this position is £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role

  1. Implementing Digital Railway Systems: You will be responsible for implementing digital railway systems and procedures to deliver cost-effective, high-quality, and safe approaches to design, construction, commissioning, and other technical activities on relevant projects.
  2. Monitoring Competence: You will monitor the competence of all project engineers working on projects associated with the digital railway programme outputs and provide functional guidance, direction, and briefing.
  3. Applying Engineering Controls: You will apply engineering controls and procedures to all projects and check whether all design and construction contracts include reference to appropriate railway group and company standards applicable to their discipline.
  4. Risk Assessment and HAZOP Analysis: You will apply relevant techniques and procedures of quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects and check whether the environmental aspects of all projects are managed in accordance with environmental policy.
  5. Monitoring Compliance: You will monitor all projects for compliance with railway group and company standards and digital railway programme project control procedures.
  6. Advising Project Management: You will advise project and programme management in respect of all construction activities, testing, and commissioning, and site supervision.
  7. Assuring Competence: You will assure whether contractors design, construction, and specialist personnel are competent.

Requirements

  • A significant amount of experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi-discipline areas.
  • Technical qualifications to at least HND level or equivalent.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Experience of major contracting.
  • Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects.
  • Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance.
  • Understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of works.
  • Accident investigation experience.
