Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our facilities maintenance team at HMP Winchester. This permanent, full-time position involves working 39 hours a week, maintaining the prison's infrastructure and ensuring a safe environment for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of carpentry works, including repairs and upgrades
  • Adapting to changing priorities and reactive maintenance situations
  • Collaborating with colleagues from various departments
  • Maintaining equipment and tool safety standards

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A formal qualification in carpentry, such as NVQ or City and Guilds (at least level 2), or significant work experience with knowledge of current best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • An honest, reliable, and robust character
