About the Role

Inside Avenue Recruitment is seeking a skilled Cable Jointer to join our client's team, a leading utility infrastructure provider in the UK. As a Cable Jointer, you will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of power cable systems, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of electrical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Maintenance: Support the installation of power cable joints and terminations on paper/lead or polymeric underground or substation cable systems, switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment in substations operating at up to 33kV.
  • Replacement of Plant and Equipment: Assist with the replacement of plant/equipment along with associated multicores and earthing cables to make a fully operational scheme.
  • Authorised Person Status: Progress to 'Authorised Person' status under SPEN's Safety Rules, allowing you to have independent access to substations containing live exposed conductors, receive a permit to work, and supervise a working party.
  • Best Practices and Innovation: Recognize best practices and promote innovative ideas to improve the efficiency and safety of electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Asset Management: Keep safe and maintain all company property issued, ensuring it is routinely PAT or calibration tested, and bring to the company's attention any items that are not serviceable in a timely manner.
  • Technical Support: Assist technical staff, such as SAPs, in undertaking cable identification, spiking, phasing, and pressure testing of power cable systems up to 33kV.
Requirements
  • Cable Jointing or HV Fitting Experience: Minimum of 2 years' practical or craft skills experience using hand tools.
  • Service and Mains Experience: Basic operational knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Site Safety Passport: Experience of working on CDM sites or equivalent.
  • Manual Handling: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
  • DNO Authorisations: DNO authorisations for SPEN to receive and cancel PTW (or alternative equivalent DNO authorisation).
  • Full Driving Licence: Valid full driving licence.
