We are seeking a highly skilled SAIS Inspector to join our team at Schindler Group.

Job Summary:

The SAIS Inspector will be responsible for inspecting and testing new or modernized lifts and escalators/moving walks to ensure they meet the Schindler Acceptance and Inspection Standard (SAIS) requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect lifts and escalators/moving walks according to SAIS requirements, performing defined tests, measuring, checking, and comparing results with acceptance criteria and recording and documenting results.
  • Re-inspect in case of non-conformities, critical items requiring re-inspection by the SAIS inspector once rectified.
  • Confirm if the Declaration of Conformity can be issued and the lift/escalator complies with relevant codes and standards.
  • Coach installation teams (internal, external) during the inspection process.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with agreed methods and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to NI/MOD or EI as requested by the Test/Technical Manager.
  • Assist with Retrofit actions as requested by the Test/Technical Manager.
  • Ensure, if certified to perform CPSI5 inspections, all existing installations are periodically inspected in accordance with Group requirements.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience within the lift and escalator industry as a qualified installation or maintenance engineer (NVQ3 or similar).
  • Previous experience working with commodity lifts, escalators/moving walks, and custom lifts (NI/MOD).
  • Extensive product knowledge, sufficient electrical and mechanical skills to perform the required tasks, and be familiar with the use of field tools.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of safety components, safety-relevant subsystems, system-related safety issues/hazards, relevant codes and standards, and in accessing technical or code-related documentation.
