Job Purpose

The Contract Risk Manager will provide advice and support to Business Development Managers and stakeholders on commercial contract risk. The role will involve conducting reviews of global Master Service Agreements, bespoke/non-standard customer contracts, and non-standard scopes of services to provide advice on the optimal commercial position on insurable risk.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Risk Assessment and Evaluation: Support business stakeholders with risk exposure reviews for new and renewing contracts. Provide formal written advice to separate business risks from insurable risks and work with global underwriting and contract teams to obtain risk pricing.
  2. Contract Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate contract terms and conditions for major clients in conjunction with DHL Key Account Managers, BU leadership, and other functions such as Legal. Ensure identified risks are communicated swiftly and clearly to business stakeholders with alternative solutions where applicable.
  3. Risk Advice Documentation: Produce formal risk advice papers to inform decision-making processes.
  4. Governance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to governance and compliance processes within a complex multinational organizational structure.
  5. Client Interaction: Negotiate and advise on risk terms with major DHL clients.
  6. Process Improvement: Identify potential improvements in transactional/analytical tools and propose amendments to streamline contract risk processes.
  7. Reporting: Draft concise reports on contract risk management-related activity, including monthly reports on KPIs.
  8. Stakeholder Relationships: Establish internal stakeholder relationships across assigned business units within the region, focusing on assigned business sectors to increase Contract Risk Management's presence and market share development.
  9. Collaboration: Coordinate with IRM London central team for pricing and on content of coverage, precedent-setting, and commercially sensitive issues/areas above authority. Collaborate with the global claims function concerning bespoke customer contracts as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. University Degree
  2. 5-10 years' experience in contract risk management
  3. Strong background in logistics, supply chain, or shipping industry. Experience with large companies is highly desirable.
  4. Experience in risk assessment, evaluation, and contract negotiation
  5. Previous experience working in large multinationals with complex organizational structures and stringent governance and compliance requirements.
  6. Experience with the business environment in markets such as the UK, Europe, South Africa is preferred.
  7. Strong managerial skills, business acumen, and an awareness of risk in commercial contexts are essential.
  8. Insurance market knowledge with understanding of insurance classes
