The Role:

This is an opportunity for an experienced settlements operations professional to help shape our UK and European settlements team. You'll be managing daily settlement operations functions for products including Fixed Income, Equities, OTC Derivatives, FX, and related activities throughout the transaction lifecycle. Reporting directly to our European Head of Operations, you'll be responsible for supporting our firm as it grows its international prime brokerage business.

The Team:

Clear Street's mission is to become a single-source platform serving various investor types across multiple asset classes on a global scale. Our UK team is bringing Clear Street's established equities, options, and fixed-income prime brokerage business to a new market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all settlement processes are completed within market deadlines, adhering to strict controls and guidelines.
  • Daily checks and validation of performed settlement controls to guarantee accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in and lead meetings with stakeholders as required, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manage and participate in departmental, cross-functional, and project-based initiatives to drive business growth and improvement.
  • Create and maintain accurate account information, specifically SSI records, to ensure seamless transactions.
  • Implement and complete all aspects of various settlement processes, including Escalation and Controls Policy.
  • Analyse and report on settlements, identifying issues, workload, and potential risks to inform strategic decisions.
  • Conduct continuous reviews and reporting of operational risks in processing, compliance, and systems to maintain a secure environment.
  • Assess settlement incidents, escalate to Operations management promptly, and remediate where necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date procedures for Settlements, ensuring they adhere to Group Policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor SWIFT, CTM, ALERT, DTC ID, and other industry tools for timely trade comparison.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in settlement operations covering Fixed Income, Equities, OTC Derivatives, and FX products.
  • In-depth understanding of central counterparties (CCP) and central securities depositories (CSD) rules, including buy-ins and fails across international markets.
  • Familiarity with Nostro/Stock/Control reconciliation exceptions to ensure accurate transaction processing.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing a settlements team within a capital markets or financial services operations environment.
  • Proactive self-starter with strong risk control background and ability to build and establish teams.
