About Our Company

DCT Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of construction projects, working closely with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of the assistant quantity surveyor.
  • Procurement process of subcontractors, receiving and analysing quotations, liaising with Contracts Managers and Site Agents regarding price, proven history, availability etc.
  • Delivering projects within set budgets by the commercial director.
  • Producing valuation claims and issuing to employers agents & clients.
  • Liaising with sub-contractors and consultants.
  • Attending site progress meetings.
  • Notifying in writing both successful and unsuccessful subcontractors in a timely manner.
  • Producing and processing formal subcontract documents and certifying interim and final payments and final subcontract account.
  • Producing bill of quantity/activity schedule for payment purposes.
  • Producing cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes.
  • Monitoring and controlling income and expenditure on contracts e.g. interim/final applications for payment/final accounts/payments for late monies etc. liaising where necessary with the relevant people e.g. engineers, clients etc.
  • Providing advice and support to the site team in order to optimise the use of contract resources.
  • Producing accurate bills of quantities for tendering opportunities.
  • Providing accurate tender estimations/quotes to clients.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Good Client interfacing skills and experience.
  • Management and development of junior commercial staff.
  • Quantity Surveying Degree or industry standard (RICS).
  • Record of success and experience in similar roles.
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated, and able to work on own initiative; enthusiastic with can do attitude.
  • Good problem-solving skills, the ability to anticipate potential problems and overcome them effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels including directors.
  • Can maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management skills and able to work to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in PC operating systems (Word / Excel / Outlook / Cost X).
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Availability to commute.

Estimated Salary: £65,000 - £85,000 per annum.
