Building Safety Consultant

Sweco Building Standards offers clients a leading regulatory and consultancy service for Building Standards, specifically aligned with the Building Safety Act and BCAR processes. Our approach is to listen and engage with clients to anticipate regulatory issues and work in partnership to deliver successful projects.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Building Safety Consultant to join our Building Regulations Advisory team, at Surveyor, Senior/Principal, or Technical Director level. This role was created within our Building Safety Unit in response to industry changes from the Building Safety Act. Building Control professionals or those with Building Control experience will be well-suited to this role.
As a member of our highly motivated team, you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking Building Regulation assessments of designs to ensure compliance and support ongoing design prior to submissions to the Regulator or other relevant Building Control Approver.
- Providing Building Regulations compliance strategies, reports, and assistance on prescribed documents required in gateway 2 submissions to the Building Safety Regulator.
- Undertaking site visits, preparing site visit reports, witnessing tests, managing change control, and coordinating with the inspection team, requiring a full, valid driving license.
- Attending client and design team meetings to provide professional advice on The Building Regulations and The Building Safety Act.
- Familiarity with and operation of management systems, including compliance with the Quality Management system.
- Working in accordance with commercial project requirements (costs and programme).
To be successful in this role, you will have a MRICS, MCABE, or MCIOB qualification (or be working towards) and experience in Building Control, either as a BC Surveyor or as part of a design team.
