Job Description

This challenging role involves applying financial modelling tools and methods to evaluate the commercial potential of emerging energy business models. You will work closely with industry partners, SMEs, and government stakeholders to identify opportunities and develop detailed understanding of future revenue and cost structures.

As a Financial Modelling Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and managing high-quality financial analysis tools and models to assess project viability.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to identify new opportunities for business model innovation and provide expert financial analysis support.
  • Leveraging your expertise to improve and develop Business Model Innovation team capabilities, focusing on commercial and financial appraisal techniques.
  • Providing thought leadership in the energy market on new energy business models and contributing to ESC's planning and management processes.
What We Offer

In return for your skills and expertise, we offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including pension scheme, annual leave, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., mathematics, accounting, or finance).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, analyse large datasets, and extract meaningful insights.
  • Experience in bringing new innovations and concepts to market with large corporates and small businesses.
  • Strong understanding of discounted cashflow methods, economic and financial appraisal, and statistical literacy.
  • Genuine commitment to low-carbon energy and environmental sustainability.
