About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Major Works Manager to join our team at Brent Council-Housing. As a key member of our maintenance and construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning and delivery of planned maintenance projects with a budget of around £12 million.

Your primary objective will be to ensure the improvement of our housing services and deliver great value for money. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory approvals, health & safety regulations, and quality standards.

You will also be required to drive improvements to the service, developing key performance indicators and overseeing capital budgets to ensure effective financial management. Additionally, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and teams across the Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the commissioning and delivery of planned maintenance projects
  • Ensure compliance with statutory approvals, health & safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Develop key performance indicators and oversee capital budgets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and teams
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience, with full professional membership of CIOB or RICS. You will also need to have demonstrable experience in managing major works projects in the social housing sector, aided by strong project management and organisational skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential for success in this role. You should also be able to analyse and evaluate complex information, providing sound advice to colleagues across the Council.
