About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the growth and development of children with autism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support to children with autism, focusing on those with non-verbal or limited verbal abilities.
  • Implement communication strategies such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and Makaton to facilitate meaningful interactions.
  • Collaborate with our skilled team to create personalized learning plans that cater to each child's unique needs.
  • Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements
  • Experience working with individuals with autism (ASD), whether through paid positions or personal involvement.
  • A background in utilising communication tools such as PECS and Makaton, particularly with non-verbal or limited verbal children.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children with SEN.
