About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to work with Trunk Logistics on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project. The successful candidate will have a strong background in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field, and experience in developing and implementing AI-powered solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Review the current workflow in the company and specify the functional requirements of the new system.
- Embed technology and upskill company staff.
- Support company scale-up and exploitation of new technology.
- Participate in academic or industrial conferences and other events to disseminate and present research outcomes.
- Design, develop, and test an initial prototype of the AI engine.
- Investigate and implement the prototype into the existing system and validate.
- Prepare reports, evaluate, handover, and sign off the project.
- Engage in personal development and contribute to the drafting of academic papers.
- MSc in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge/experience of computational/artificial intelligence.
- Understanding of UI-centered product design, data extraction, and interrogation.
- Knowledge/interest in data science, machine learning algorithms, and methods, as well as cyber security techniques.
- Strong mathematical foundation.
- Knowledge/interest in data visualization.
- Experience and knowledge of best practice in data storage, processing, and handling.
- Experience of handling and manipulating large and complex data.
- Experience and knowledge of higher-level programming languages such as Python, R, and Java.
- Experience of version control using Git.
- Understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Strong knowledge of common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage expectations in a multi-partner project.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
As a KTP Associate, this role offers a personal development budget, management training, and mentoring by an Innovate UK KTP Adviser. You will also have access to university resources, world-leading academic and company project supervision, and a dedicated KTP Office.
LocationTrunk Logistics, Globe Industrial Estate, Grays, Essex, England, RM17 6ST. Hybrid working offered.
