Job Description

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Cover Supervisor to work in Secondary Schools from October 2024. This role starts immediately.

The Role

As a successful Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for building a good rapport with your pupils in a short space of time, remaining calm, confident, and engaging in unfamiliar surroundings while teaching a multitude of subjects. This role is essential in all types of schools and within all stages of learning. You must be able to keep the class focused on their learning objectives, motivate them to want to learn, maintain class discipline, and keep the pupils on track. You will be teaching Key stages 3 and 4, and possibly covering Key stages 5.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervising and managing the behaviour of students during lessons.
  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson plans to maintain continuity in learning.
  • Providing support to students in their learning activities.
  • Managing classroom resources and ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Reporting back to teaching staff on student progress and any issues arising during the day.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a confident approach working with Secondary Age Pupils (age 11 - 16 years), strong communication and interpersonal skills, a degree from University or previous experience working with children, the ability to engage and inspire students, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to changing situations. Previous experience in a similar role or working with young people is essential.
