Twycross Zoo is a leading conservation and science-led zoo in the heart of England. We are committed to increasing awareness, knowledge, and understanding of our animals among our visitors.

This is an exciting time to join us as we enter a new chapter following restructure and new leadership. We have £20m grant funding to develop the National Science and Conservation Centre (NSCC), which will support vital work around species conservation.

• As an Animal Keeper, you will be responsible for caring for the animals on our ape section, including all four species of great ape.
• You will assist with daily husbandry routines, including enclosure servicing, diet provision, and positive reinforcement training.
• Conduct observations on the relevant animals during the working day, reporting any unusual or concerning behavior to senior staff.
• Ensure all relevant risk assessments, standard operating procedures, and policies are followed at all times.

• A BSc (or equivalent experience) in an animal or conservation-related subject is desirable.
• Knowledge of the relevant taxa, including their physiology, natural behaviors, and management practices in zoos.
• Experience of working with great apes in a zoo environment is essential.
• IT competence in MS Office and ZIMS is required.
