Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled HGV/LGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Report to the Transport Coordinator at the start of shift
  • Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
  • Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety, and hygiene
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
  • Maintain a high standard of behavior and appearance
  • Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
  • Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
  • Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
  • Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
  • Make deliveries to customers' premises, acting in a professional manner at all times
  • Immediately report any problems regarding delivery arrival times, delays, or discrepancies with loads
  • Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
  • Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office/Customer Services
  • Observe and adhere to site procedures at each delivery point
  • Ensure correct completion of a defect report as and when required
Requirements:
  • Hold a valid HGV 1/C+E Licence and have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience
  • No more than 6 points, no DD/DR Code convictions
  • Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards
  • Understand and able to comply with Driver's hours and WTD legislation
  • Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly
  • Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
