Job Summary:

We are seeking a diligent and committed practical hands-on technician to assist in our busy and dynamic teaching laboratories at The University of Edinburgh.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of dedicated technicians who help deliver practical teaching sessions to undergraduate students studying aspects of Chemistry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and running of practical sessions in our teaching laboratories.
  • Support the delivery of hands-on learning experiences for students.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and healthy laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective communication and engagement with students.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.

Requirements:

  • A conscientious and focused approach to duties, with excellent attention to detail.
  • An interest in Chemistry and practical science, preferably with a Higher or Nat 5 Chemistry qualification.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new situations, with a strong understanding of the importance of health and safety in a laboratory environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students and colleagues.
  • Experience of laboratory settings, preferably with hands-on experience and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
