Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Landscape Designer to spearhead the creation of captivating outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will have a passion for crafting visually stunning and functional environments.
Duties:
- Install and maintain seasonal plants to enhance the aesthetic appeal of gardens.
- Maintain and improve green spaces by mowing, trimming, and fertilizing as needed.
- Mulch, edge, and weed gardens to maintain their health and appearance.
- Prune and trim trees and bushes to promote healthy growth and maintain a tidy appearance.
- Maintain and repair gardening equipment and machinery to ensure they remain in good working condition.
- Monitor the health of plants and take corrective action as necessary to prevent disease and pests.
- Develop and implement strategies to address pest problems that could harm plants.
- Ensure gardens and green spaces remain clear of debris and litter to maintain a safe and attractive environment.
- Develop and present proposals to clients to showcase design ideas and plans.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, engineers, and surveyors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Engage with local community members to gain valuable insights and understanding of their needs and preferences.
- Consider environmental factors, such as energy availability, when designing outdoor spaces.
- Prepare detailed site plans and graphic representations of designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Estimate costs and oversee the project's budget to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
- Deliver high-quality landscape designs that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Perform thorough site inventories to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for innovation.
- Develop and implement landscape designs that are uniquely desirable, artistic, and inspirational.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding landscape trends, features, and techniques.
- Conduct site surveys and provide expert advice on environmental conservation.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments to ensure sustainable design practices.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences, and provide regular updates on project progress.
- Prepare detailed reports and collaborate with management to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Landscaping Architect or similar role.
- Practical experience with CAD software.
- Strong creative flair and imagination.
- Ability to respond well to feedback and constructive criticism.
- Excellent understanding of written and verbal specifications.
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Landscaping Architect.
- Familiarity with landscape design principles and best practices.
- Extensive knowledge of regional plant life and local pests.
- Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizers.
- Knowledge of state health and safety regulations for landscaping.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods of time.
- High school degree or equivalent.
Professional Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years experience as a gardener or garden architect.
- Strong understanding of health and safety rules and legislation.
- Ability to advise management on the costs of plants and garden necessities with detailed written quotations and reports.
