We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team at a leading M&E Contractor. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the commercial aspects of projects, working under the guidance of the Commercial Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the commercial aspects of projects, ensuring timely and accurate financial management.
  • Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Manage project variations and general change management, identifying and mitigating commercial and contractual risks.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly cost reports, producing accurate and timely month-end reports.
  • Attend meetings to progress or finalize project accounts, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Identify, review, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks, ensuring the company's interests are protected.
  • Gain familiarity with standard contract forms, including NEC3 and JCT, to ensure compliance and effective management of projects.
  • Negotiate subcontract terms and conditions with clients and contractors, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Draft subcontracts, value subcontractor work, and certify interim and final payments, ensuring accurate and timely financial management.
  • Enhance cash flow through effective control, measurement, valuation, invoicing, and cash collection, ensuring the company's financial stability.
  • Receive training and support to aid in your professional development, ensuring you have the skills and knowledge required to excel in your role.
  • Report directly to the Commercial Manager, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (Degree, HNC, or NVQ preferred).
  • 2 years of experience preferred, but candidates with relevant experience or qualifications will also be considered.
  • Understanding of electrical systems is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong IT skills, especially in MS Office, with a focus on Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team attitude.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Methodical approach and proactive learning ability.
