TSSU Supervisor Key Responsibilities


The post-holder is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Theatre Decontamination Unit. Key responsibilities include ensuring all instruments are correctly accounted for and tracked post-procedure, receiving and processing contaminated reusable medical devices, and providing supervision to Decontamination Technicians.


Main Tasks



  • Direct Line management of TSSU Staff
  • Ensure instruments are processed according to departmental policies and off-site decontamination unit guidelines
  • Liaise with Theatre Leads to ensure timely instrument processing and availability for surgery
  • Inform Theatre Coordinator of expected turnaround times not achieved
  • Process and track loan kits according to local procedures
  • Provide advice, training, and support to Decontamination Technicians and Theatre Scrub staff
