Bradford College is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to fill the role of Inclusion and SEND Lead Officer. This position is a key part of our Disability Services department, and the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the college meets its legal and statutory requirements for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities- Lead on EHCP Planning and Implementation: The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all duties and processes related to Education Health and Care Plans are delivered to the highest standard. This will involve leading on the planning and implementation of EHCPs, ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of their roles and responsibilities, and maintaining clear and effective communication throughout the process.
- Line Management and Support: The Inclusion and SEND Lead Officer will be responsible for line-managing our Assistant EHCP Officers, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are equipped to carry out their duties effectively.
- Annual Review Meetings: The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling the timeline of college annual review meetings for students with EHC Plans, ensuring that the team and postholder chair the appropriate number of reviews.
- EHCP Administration and Support: The Inclusion and SEND Lead Officer will work closely with the EHCP Admin Specialist / Systems & Technology Team Leader to ensure that the supporting EHCP administration functions are effective in supporting the work of the EHCP Officers and wider team.
- Transition and Placement: The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the effective transition for young people with EHC Plans, including involvement in reviews within the school setting, and ensuring timely responses to consultations on placement of young people with EHC plans.
- Monitoring and Improvement: The Inclusion and SEND Lead Officer will monitor the EHC Plan processes used within college, arranging student and staff feedback processes to flag necessary improvements, via a progress review process.
- Preparing for Adulthood: The successful candidate will support the preparing for adulthood agenda by promoting an aspirational culture in terms of life after college, including further learning, vocational training, employment or independent living, in line with desired EHC Plan outcomes.
- Training and Development: The Inclusion and SEND Lead Officer will provide training and the cascading of resources to teaching and support staff working with students with a range of additional needs.
- Communication and Liaison: The successful candidate will ensure timely and effective communication is maintained with all relevant individuals/agencies throughout the review process and update information and responses as required by the relevant Local Education Authority / internal college procedures.
- Professional Qualification or Experience: The successful candidate will have an appropriate professional qualification or worked experience demonstrating experience in disability, SEND or Additional Learning Support.
- GCSE Qualifications: The candidate will hold GCSE 5 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale. Similarly, they will hold GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.
- Safeguarding Qualification: A Level 2 Safeguarding qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Experience: The successful candidate will have experience of supporting young people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties, interpreting Education Health and Care plans and other evidence to inform support provision, and working with children and young people with a range of SEND.
- Collating and Writing Reports: The candidate will have experience of collating, preparing or writing reports, including analysing data and reports.
