Senior Ecologist Position

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to lead our ecology team in Dorking. As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality ecological assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and lead ecological surveys, including protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and biodiversity audits.
- Undertake environmental impact assessments and prepare ecological reports.
- Design and implement appropriate mitigation measures to enhance biodiversity and protect ecological habitats.
- Provide expert advice on ecological matters to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Mentor and support junior ecologists, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster their professional development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Ecologist with a strong focus on conducting surveys, assessments, and preparing ecological reports. You should have a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field, and several years of experience in ecological consultancy.
Key Requirements:
- At least a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in ecological consultancy with a strong focus on conducting surveys, assessments, and preparing ecological reports.
- Sound knowledge of UK ecology legislation, guidelines, and best practice.
- A proven track record in managing and delivering ecological projects, meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience of advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain, including production of Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIA) and use of the DEFRA metric.
- A particular interest or skill in ornithology or protected species, including licence holders, would be advantageous.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body, such as CIEEM.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Our ecology team is led by four directors who each joined the company in junior positions and are committed to providing a supportive and fostering environment. We have a team of over 120 ecologists working out of five offices across the UK.
