At WSP UK, we're seeking a talented individual to join our Development Planning team as a Senior Transport Planner or Transport Planner. This exciting opportunity will involve working on diverse projects, from commercial and residential developments to Local Development Framework representations. You'll have the chance to develop transport strategies, support Expert Witness evidence, and collaborate with our Highways, Services, Structures, and Environmental teams.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Transport Planner or Transport Planner, you'll provide day-to-day technical transport planning input into a variety of Development Planning projects. Your tasks will include developing project management and commercial skills, growing your professional network, and leading transport planning input into some projects with the support of the wider team.

Requirements

  • Experience in technical work on Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategy work, parking strategies, sustainable transport, and active travel provision, using guidance like NPPF and DfT Transport Assessment guidelines.
  • Ability to set up and run junction capacity modelling software such as Junctions 10 and Linsig, and understand inputs, outputs, and scenario testing.
  • Capability of carrying out conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals).
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to speak with Clients, project teams, co-professionals, and other project stakeholders.
  • Ability to share knowledge with others on technical expertise.
  • Confidence in day-to-day software packages like Excel and Word.
