About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team at Smiths Detection. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful integration of our digital networked solutions and software applications with automation systems.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will work closely with our programmes, product support, and technology departments to coordinate and prioritize engineering and technical activities. You will be accountable for the execution and integration of complex projects and programmes in the field, ensuring that they are delivered in line with our business processes and tools.

Key responsibilities will include designing test plans, technical documentation, and executing test cases for functional and performance testing. You will also develop expertise in assigned domain areas and effectively communicate status, metrics, and issues on a regular basis.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in digital networked solutions and PLC automation, with experience in low-level industrial control systems. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to train and mentor others.

Desirable qualifications include a Bachelor's or associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or equivalent experience. You will also need to have a minimum of 5 years' experience in installation, commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, or technical support activities centered on X-ray imaging systems, automated tray return systems, digital checkpoint solutions, and other equipment.
