About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Examiner to join our team at Pearson. As a Principal Examiner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our GCSE German assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the timely delivery of assessments and maintain high standards of quality assurance.
  • Lead standardisation and pre-standardisation meetings, and participate in appeals against results and post-series reviews.
  • Select and mark items for validity, and prepare and collate materials for standardisation.
  • Support supervisors and examiners, and monitor the progress of supervisors and examiners.
  • Act as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process.
  • Provide support across multiple versions of the paper, and monitor and report to the Assessment team after standardisation and completion of marking.
  • Support in awarding activities, including writing reports to the Awarding Committee and recommending grade boundaries.
Requirements
  • Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
  • History of moderation and/or marking a regulated qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide and co-ordinate training such as standardisation and other standards-related activities.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the specification for GCSE German, including internal and external requirements.
Desirable
  • High level of IT proficiency.
  • Leadership experience in delivering qualifications.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and requirements.
  • Report writing within a regulated industry.
