Cost Control Manager

This role presents a great chance for a seasoned Cost Control professional to work on a significant defence framework, driving cost optimisation and ensuring budgets stay within contractual constraints.
Job Description- Develop and manage project budgets and forecasts, monitoring costs and expenses, highlighting variances and challenging discrepancies.
- Implement cost control measures to aid cost profiling without compromising quality and schedules.
- Use cost databases, historical data, and trend analysis to review and interpret cost information for effective decision-making.
- Collaborate with Project teams to provide cost-related insights and support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Seek opportunities to improve cost estimation methods, streamline processes, and enhance efficiencies in cost management.
- Monitor and clear internal business issues – DSO, Aged Debt, delayed invoicing, forecast accuracy, and application for payment peer reviews.
- Effectively communicate cost-related information and insights to diverse stakeholders, presenting findings and sharing recommendations.
- Review Team Margin Analysis reports and attend Project Reviews as required.
- Deputise for the Cost Management Lead when necessary.
- Significant knowledge or qualification in a recognised programme/project management methodology (e.g., MSP, Prince, APM) and experience of NEC4 Contract.
- Demonstrable experience working in major/complex infrastructure projects and matrix organisations.
- Team-oriented leader able to work closely with peers, delegate, motivate, and empower individuals and teams.
- Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience across all stages of the project life cycle.
- Substantial experience of planning services in medium to large-sized projects within the construction industry (£1m – £100m).
- Capable of helping to forge and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ability to develop trust in people and assist others as required, with strong communication skills, including writing reports and presenting.
A competitive salary range of £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including free single medical cover, digital GP service, family-friendly benefits, reimbursement towards relevant professional development, and charitable donations.
